The array_chunk() function

The array_chunk() function splits the source array into several smaller arrays (chunks) of a specified size. The last chunk may contain fewer elements if the division is not even.

EXAMPLE

// 1. DATA PREPARATION
// We have an array of fruit with stock levels
$fruit = array(
    "Bananas" => "1", 
    "Strawberries" => "5", 
    "Blueberries" => "2", 
    "Pears" => "4", 
    "Peaches" => "3"
);

echo "USAGE EXAMPLE\n\n";

// 2. SPLITTING WITHOUT PRESERVING KEYS (Default - false)
// Keys become numerical (0, 1, 2...)
echo "FALSE (Keys are reset):\n";
$without_keys = array_chunk($fruit, 2, false);
print_r($without_keys);

echo "\n---------------------------\n\n";

// 3. SPLITTING WITH KEY PRESERVATION (True)
// Very useful if we need the original associative keys!
echo "TRUE (Keys remain unchanged):\n";
$with_keys = array_chunk($fruit, 2, true);
print_r($with_keys);

// TIP: array_chunk is great when you want to, for example, display 100 images 
// from a database in rows of 4 (use a foreach inside a foreach loop).
