PHP Array: Updating an Element in an Array

In PHP, we can change the value of an existing array element by simply referring to its index (for numeric arrays) or key (for associative arrays) and assigning it a new value.

EXAMPLE

$fruits = ["Pineapple", "Blueberries", "Peaches", "Cherries", "Strawberries", "Lemons", "Apricots"];
$myCar = ["brand" => "Renault", "model" => "Punto", "color" => "red", "year" => 2024];

echo "Before: " . $fruits[5] . "\n";
// Updating the 6th element (index 5) in the array
$fruits[5] = "Raspberries";
echo "After: " . $fruits[5] . "\n\n";

echo "Car before: " . $myCar['model'] . " (" . $myCar['color'] . ")\n";
// Updating multiple keys in an associative array
$myCar['model'] = "Clio";
$myCar['color'] = "white";
$myCar['year'] = 2015;
echo "Car after: " . $myCar['model'] . " (" . $myCar['color'] . ")\n\n";
