PHP date_sub() Function

The date_sub() function subtracts any time period from a specific date. It requires a DateInterval object to determine how many years, months, days, or hours to subtract from the original timestamp.

EXAMPLE

// Create the starting date and time
$date = date_create("1973-07-05 07:25:44");
echo "Original date: " . date_format($date, "d.m.Y H:i:s") . "\n";

// Define the interval we want to subtract
$interval = date_interval_create_from_date_string("7 years 3 months 25 days 5 hours 10 minutes 34 seconds");

// Subtract interval from the date
date_sub($date, $interval);
