gethostbyaddr()

The gethostbyaddr() function is used to retrieve the hostname from a specific IP address. If the function cannot find a name, it returns the original IP address.

EXAMPLE

$host = gethostbyaddr($ipAddress);

// If it returns the same as the IP, the lookup was unsuccessful
if ($host === $ipAddress) {
    echo "Could not retrieve hostname for IP address: $ipAddress\n";

    echo "IP address $ipAddress belongs to host: $host\n";
}
